The BBQ Judging Contest will begin on Saturday (October 29th, 2011) at 12:00pm.

There will be a meeting at 10:00 AM for all Judges. We are very strict about time, if you are not there by 10:00 AM you will be replaced with an alternate judge for the contest.

Bonus: As a judge you will be able to taste some of the best BBQ around for free.

If you should have any questions, please let us know.  Above is our contact information to get the form to us by e-mail, fax or snail mail.  Please do this as soon as possible.  We have judges sign up as early as the day after last years event.  This is a first come, first serve basis.  You will be contacted 1 month out and notified of entrance to the contest.  More judges will be contacted 2 weeks out and the same at 1 week out.  This is all based on the number of teams we have in the contest, so please allow us time to secure a number of teams so we don't over book judges.  Thanks!

The Bates County BBQ State Championship strives to have a very organized event.  This starts from the planning of the event, to making it all happen on that great weekend.  If you have been to the contest before, you will see that a group of 5-8 people put on this event, and you can tell how passionate all of us are about making it a success.  The one part that we strive to have complete control and organization at is the judges for the event.  Last year with 67 teams and 100% certified judges, this is very difficult to keep organized.  That's why, we have to make the changes that is best for the event and the teams involved.  This year we are expecting even more teams, which means we will need more judges.

If you are interested in being a judge and are certified through KCBS, please fill out the form below and fax, email or mail it to us.  You can find all that information at the bottom of this form.  We will only be accepting certified judges for this event, if you are not certified and would like to be, find a judge class and become certified.  We will be holding one if time permits and we have the funding to do so.  If we do not have this form, we will not be able to put you on the list as a judge for the 2011 event.  If you have questions, please email me at the address below.  This is the only way for me to keep track of the hundreds of judges that want to judge this event.  We have great facilities and like I said earlier, are a very organized event.
