News Release
03/31/2009

On the morning of 03/24/2009 Butler Police Dept took a report of a tractor trailer unit, loaded with corn, having been stolen from the old Tiona parking lot at W Ft Scott & Prospect. The unit belonged to Travis Korn of Garden City, MO.
On the afternoon of 3/24 the tractor was recovered a few mile west of Drexel in Kansas by the Kansas Highway Patrol. Shortly before noon on 03/25 the trailer was recovered near Richards, Mo in Vernon County.
On 03/26 information was received that the corn had been sold at the elevator in Metz, MO. Employees were able to identify the subject who had sold the corn.
Jon M Jackson, age 30, of Butler has been charged with Possession of stolen property in regard to this incident.
Butler Police Dept. Was assisted in the investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Bates and Vernon County Sheriff’s Departments.
As an off-shoot of this investigation Nathan Gillaspie and Greg Zweifel, both of Rich Hill, have been charged in Vernon County in connection with the theft of soybeans from a grain bin near Richards, Mo.
